The Chicago Bulls’ Derrick Rose and the LA Lakers’ Kobe Bryant named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week.
Rose averaged 24.0 points and 9.3 assists while logging 38.8 minutes per contest as he helped the Bulls to a 5-0 week. Rose, who appeared in four of the Bulls’ five games, posted two point-assist double-doubles, including a 31-point, 11-assist effort in Chicago’s 111-100 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Jan. 10. The Bulls’ five-game winning streak has them at 12-2 (.857) and atop the NBA standings.

Reggie Rose (left) believes there’s a championship in Derrick’s future.
“I would say within the next three years he’s going to win a championship,” said Reggie, who is also Derrick’s manager. “I can just see it because he’s so hungry for it. He tasted it. It was right there.”
“What’s so crazy is if you look at everything he’s accomplished in three years. Each year he’s hitting a pinnacle in his career that we wouldn’t have thought.”
“If you had said Rookie of the Year, second year the big All-Star game, third year Derrick would be MVP in the league with Kobe still in the league, LeBron still in the league, I wouldn’t have thought it.”
