It’s the next step for him. Everything is going according to plan; he’s not ahead of schedule, he’s not behind schedule, he’s exactly where he should be. He’s doing great. You have to be patient with it. He’s been very diligent, he’s in every day. He’s moving along. He’s been shooting for a while now, he feels pretty good so we just have to be patient. We’re going to do what we think is best for both the team and Derrick. So on this game road trip, I like him being in one place, so he may meet us out in LA, but for him the rehab has to be the priority, so that’s what I want him to focus in on. For us, it’s a long trip and we’re going to be jumping around so he’ll be on the trip for part of it. He’s in every day so they see how hard he’s working at his rehab, he’s around his teammates, but we can’t use that as a crutch. You can’t replace a guy like Derrick individually, you’re only chance is if you’re doing it collectively. So we need everybody else to focus in on knowing what their job is, doing their job, and then doing it as a team. That’s our only chance. Whether Derrick’s there or not, our approach and our attitude, that shouldn’t change. And the focus has to be on our improvement and that’s where we want it to be.

Update: Derrick Rose is not at the bench for three reasons according to ESPN. The first one is because he is currently rehabbing, second is because he doesn’t want to get run into & third, he doesn’t want to take attention away from his team when they are trying to win this game. Everything is going good for Rose’s rehab right now as he is ahead of schedule. But, he might be relocating to Los Angeles to continue working on his knee.

It’s killing me inside, it’s hard to watch the team continue on without me. I miss basketball, but I know I have to be patient. I can hear the critics say I’ll be slower, I won’t be able to jump as high or whatever. They can’t tell me how my body is going to feel in a few months. They don’t know how hard I’ve been working. Every night I go to bed imagining holding the Championship trophy, I can’t give that up. I’m coming back one hundred and ten percent.

Championships is how you get noticed in this league.  That’s only how you can talk.  I can’t talk.  I can’t brag about anything.  I won an MVP award.  So?  That was two years ago.  I ain’t won no championship.  Can’t say nothing until you win a championship.

Being from Chicago, and bringing a ring back… Man.  There’s only one thing on my list, and that’s to win a championship.
